Language & region
Maison Glacé is built to sell across languages and markets. Language and country switchers are available in the header, footer, mobile menu and welcome pop-up — each independently toggled — and the whole interface is translatable.
- Header
- A compact globe + language code beside the cart (desktop). Toggle with show_language.
- Mobile menu
- A language + region block pinned to the bottom of the slide-in drawer. Toggle with show_drawer_locale.
- Footer
- Full language and country selectors, each with its own on/off switch.
- Pop-up
- An optional “Language & region” chooser that sets both at once with a Confirm button.
They appear only when useful
Setting up languages & markets#
The switchers read straight from Shopify — you configure them in your admin, not the theme:
- Add languages in Settings → Languages (via the Translate & Adapt app), and publish each one you want to offer.
- Add regions and currencies in Settings → Markets.
Publish the language
Translating the theme#
There are two layers of text, translated in two places:
Interface text
Buttons, labels and messages (“Add to cart”, “Your coffret, so far”) live in the theme’s locale files and ship translated. Maison Glacé includes complete English and French translations for both the storefront and the theme editor.
Your content
Product titles and descriptions, collection copy, and text you type into section settings (hero headings, the cart title, shipping note) are your content. Translate these with the Translate & Adapt app in your admin.
Announcement bar#
The rotating promo bar has a case-sensitive text option — leave it off and items display in the theme’s elegant uppercase; turn it on to preserve the exact casing you type.
| Setting | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
scrolling | checkbox | — | Scroll the bar like a marquee. |
speed | range | — | Scroll duration. |
case_sensitive | checkbox | Off | Preserve the exact casing of your text. |
A note on caching
/cart reflects it immediately. Don’t chase a “missing” switcher on the home page first.
